Halal-certified bakeries in Singapore

It can be hard navigating the food scene for safe options if you’re Muslim. You ask if an establishment is halal, and sometimes, you’re told the establishment is Muslim-owned, or that the ingredients are from a halal-certified supplier. These however, do not necessarily mean the food that’s coming out of these kitchens are 100 percent halal-certified.

Put your mind at ease by going for MUIS halal-certified brands. Getting this certification is a rigorous process. There are three main criteria. Firstly, all raw materials must be halal. Secondly, there must be a minimum of two Muslim staff employed. Lastly, it must comply with the 10 principles of the Singapore MUIS Halal Quality Management System.

Here’s a list of halal-certified bakers in Singapore. Enjoy!

1. Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes

Delicie’s Desserts and Cakes specialises in healthy cakes that caters to any dietary requirements or preferences. The cakes fall into four main categories: vegan, vegan and diabetes-friendly, vegan and gluten-free and vegan and baby-friendly (no chocolate and no nuts).

Strawberry Cheesecake, replicates the smooth richness of a traditional cheesecake by using a self-fermented cream cheese made of soy and extra virgin coconut oil.

Each recipe is thoroughly tested by Delcie herself and you’ll see that huge efforts are put into making sure that the cakes do not compromise on flavour.

2. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Not many people know that Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf offers halal-certified party packs of desserts and pastries. Our favourite is Local Delights that include treats like Pandan Gula Melaka cupcakes. Chocolate Delight is sure to be a crowd-pleaser – it includes tarts, profiteroles, brownies and opera cakes. They’re perfect for corporate parties or home parties where you need to cater to a huge crowd.

OK, so Cornery Popcorn is not exactly a bakery but it is the only halal-certified gourmet popcorn brand in Singapore. Their sweet variations are inspired. Think sugar-crusted white cheese, sugar-crusted wasabi and palm sugar.

4. Pastry Den

Not everything at Pastry Den is halal-certified. However, they have a range that is. With this range, they are made separately at partnered kitchens in a certified no pork, no lard environment so there is no chance of cross-contamination. The range of halal desserts is extensive and covers whole cakes, trays of sweet treats (36 pieces a set), and gourmet treats such as macarons, choux pastries and pretty tarts.

5. Butter Studio

Everything here is made the old-fashioned way. That means, using fresh ingredients and making as much as possible by hand and from scratch. What we love about Butter Studio are the cakelets – these handcrafted petite cakes are perfect for one or two people but they’re just as elaborated decorated as a tiered cake would be.

Salted Caramel Overload Cakelet. This signature salted caramel red velvet petit cake is a decadent halal-certified treat. It’s coated in classic cream cheese frosting and topped with crunchy caramel popcorn and home cooked salted caramel drip.
